Peter Lanzarone is a Geophysicist with bp, currently supporting the Gulf of Mexico deepwater renewal team with a focus on near-field exploration around bp’s existing infrastructure. He has a passion for all things seismic and over the course of his 12-year career has developed a specialty in seismic interpretation and quantitative analysis for exploration projects in the Western Hemisphere. Prior to bp he attended the University of Florida for his undergraduate degree and the University of Georgia for graduate school. During this time his research was on the use of near-surface geophysical techniques applied to stratigraphic interpretation at field sites in east Africa.
He’s served the GSH over the years most notably as a founding member and co-lead of NextGen, the young professional’s special interest group. He’s also volunteered over the past 10 years with the outreach committee by serving as a judge at the annual the Houston Science Fair and other local events.
In his free time Peter enjoys running, snowboarding, playing music, and spending time with his wife Kate and their two-year-old son, William.
